Sebastien Bassong is our latest injury worry after limping out of Cameroon’s meeting with Gabon in the 24th minute. It’s not yet known how serious the injury is, but the defender is set to miss the return encounter with Gabon on Wednesday.
Bassong has impressed since arriving at the club from Newcastle, and we could certainly do without losing another central defender before our meeting with United at the weekend. If Bassong is to miss the Man U game, there is a possibility we’d only have Corluka left as a (semi-) recognised centre back. Corluka and Huddlestone against United? Hmm…
On the plus side, Corluka was sent off during Croatia’s 1-0 win over Belarus and will miss the meeting with England on Wednesday. At least he should be fit after only playing 29 minutes before seeing red!
With King, Woodgate, and Dawson all set to miss the match at the weekend, we could really do with Bassong being fit. Time to cross our fingers, not only for that but for all our other Internationals set to play on Wednesday. No more injuries, please…
Doncaster have been dumped out of the Carling Cup by the Spurs second string in tonight’s second round meeting. Whereas we were not expecting anything other than a victory this evening, it is still a pleasure to see the boys who are not in the premier league starting eleven play so convincingly.
Huddlestone opened the scoring after just 9 minutes with O’ Hara adding another just two minutes later. In the 37th minute Crouchie grabbed his first for the club with a header from inside the 6-yard box, getting on the end of a cross from Bentley.
Sitting pretty at 3-0 up at the break, so ‘Arry’s half-time talk must’ve been pretty easy; more of the same please lads!
Just 7 minutes into the second period and Bentley made it 4 before a handball from Kevin-Prince Boateng gave Doncaster a consolation penalty, duly despatched by Martin Woods. Something for the home fans to cheer at least.
In the 69th minute Pavlyuchenko made it 5-1. A great result, and a great to see the boys waiting in the wings get a run-out. With the squad certainly not lacking in quality there is a fight for starting places, and therefore there was all to play for during tonight’s encounter. Looks as though Redknapp has plenty of options……..
