Transfer Rumours

Under 5 hours left of transfer deadline day, and still plenty of business to clear up.

As things stand, Sky Sports News are reporting that Portsmouth and Croatia midfielder Niko Kranjcar has passed a medical at Spurs this morning, and a deal will be announced within a few hours.

Kranjcar’s team mate David James appears to be staying at Fratton Park. SSN report he has turned up at the Portsmouth training ground this morning, and hasn’t left. This would indicate that a deal is not going to be completed.

Someone who has left the training ground is Mr David Bentley. SSN showed the midfielder leaving in a friends car this morning. Reporters asked if he was off to Manchester, but there was no reply.

It is expected that Bentley will be joining City ON LOAN, with Petrov moving the other way.

There has been no talk of possible deals with Sandro, Muntari, or Chavez. I will update as I get more information…..

Updates will appear below

1.02pm - SSN reports that Portsmouth have received NO OFFERS for David James

1.07pm – Kranjcar deal will be completed soon, but player has already left to rejoin the Croatia squad to continue preparations for clash with England.

1.40pm – I’m going to have a shower! :-)

2.33pm – Man City: We won’t be signing Bentley

3.32pm – Paul Merson is ‘majorly surprised somebody like Arsenal wasn’t looking at’ Kranjcar – Link

PavlyuchenkoWith the transfer window fast drawing to a close, be prepared for plenty of rumours and wild speculation in the coming days. The latest reports suggest that Pavlyuchenko has requested a transfer, with Spartak Moscow ready to offer £10million to re-sign him – £4million less than the club paid for him a year ago.

This story may have an element of truth as the Russian striker has to fight for a place in Russia’s world cup squad, and may find it difficult if he spends the season warming the Spurs’ bench. Also, he has not come out and stated his desire to stay with the club as Modric did after the media linked him with a mve to United.

If Redknapp had a choice he’d surely prefer to keep Pavlyuchenko at WHL, as he has stated on numerous occasions how important it is to have 4 top strikers in the squad. News of the Russian’s impending departure has reignited reports of a move for Real Madrid’s Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Apparently we inquired about his availability before the start of the season, but the deal was seen as too expensive. With the Dutchman’s wage demands thought to be around £90,000 per week could a deal be possible. Madrid have reportedly reduced their asking price to £6million, is this still to much for a 33-year-old?

Do Spurs Need More Signings?

August 21, 2009

It’s just 10 days until the summer transfer window draws to a close, and so far we have spent in the region of £25-30million (depending on the source) bringing in Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton from Sheffield Utd, Sébastien Bassong from Newcastle, and – of course – Peter Crouch from Portsmouth.
The majority of this investment [...]
