in Transfer Deadline Day

At the time of writing, the transfer window is a little under 41 hours away from closing. As the deadline approaches rumours will be flying left, right, and centre. Some may be true, but the majority will be false.

So, here is the place to be to check the latest. I shall be crawling through the Internet all day on Monday, and Tuesday if I can get a day off work. If you guys find some news, feel free to post it. The more eyes the better.

Are we going to dive into the market to provide cover for the injured Modric? Or are we happy with what we’ve got?

Let the rumours commence. All the latest can be found below. Feel free to add your thoughts.

So, as things stand, we are linked with Petrov (Man City), David James & Niko Kranjcar (Portsmouth), Sandro (Internacional – Brazil), and Sulley Muntari (Inter Milan).

Any thoughts?

Think a lot about who we get will depend on Pav, Hudd, and Jenas and if they stay or go.

If Pav does not go now he will go in January. I say we cut or losses now. The money from that sale will no doubt go towards another bid for Young. But I think it will take Hudd and Bentley plus cash for Martin O’Neill to entertain letting Young go.

Modric’s injury could not have come at a worse time, and probably one of the only positions we do not have an adequate cover for. The left will be Harry’s priority before the window closes.

But if he does sacrifice Hudd to get Young then I for sure see Scott Brown coming in.

I can see the back page of the Sun on Wednesday morning now: “Young At Hart” (geddit)

I think Pav is staying until January at least. I’m sure he will be reassessing the situation at that point.

Forgot to mention Ashley Young in the list of targets above, but I’m not sure I’d swap Bentley and Huddlestone. Bentley + cash would be acceptable.

The most talked about possibility at the moment is Kranjcar joining us and possibly James as well.

Former Tottenham defender Graham Roberts has tipped Harry Redknapp to splash out on Inter’s Sulley Muntari and then go and lead Spurs to a top four finish.

He also expects James to sign, and Bentley to move to ………. Everton.

Modric is a big loss, he gives the team that balance and he was playing out of his skin.

I’ve been told there is now a big chance we’ll bring in either Martin Petrov or Sulley Muntari to replace him.

We definitely need a left-sided player. I think David Bentley will go to Everton, and it will be Petrov or Muntari.

Muntari was the big shout I was hearing over the weekend.

Ok, with 5 and a half hours to go the Kranjcar deal is being widely reported. Many sites are suggesting that a deal is on the verge of completion after the Croatian passed a medical this morning.

Some sites are even reporting a quote from Redknapp saying he is delighted with the deal. This is rubbish, as Harry would not be giving any quotes about the signing before it’s officially reported on the Spurs website.

Apparently, according to The Sun, Redknapp has said:

I’m really delighted. I signed him for Portsmouth and he’s a fantastic player and a great lad.
