Do Spurs Need More Signings?

It’s just 10 days until the summer transfer window draws to a close, and so far we have spent in the region of £25-30million (depending on the source) bringing in Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton from Sheffield Utd, Sébastien Bassong from Newcastle, and – of course – Peter Crouch from Portsmouth.

The majority of this investment has been reclaimed with the departures of Darren Bent (Sunderland) and Didier Zokora (Sevilla) respectively.

So now the burning question is; Do we need to bring in more players before the transfer window closes?

It’s rumoured that Harry is chasing either Scott Brown or Aiden McGeady – or even both – from Celtic after he was spotted in the stands during the 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on Tuesday evening.

I’ll be honest here and say I don’t know much about either. I’m not a huge fan of the SPL I’m afraid! But, it appears (if the rumour mill is to be believed) that Celtic are holding out for a £10million bid for Brown – who won the PFA Scotland Player of the Year Award last season.

This appears to have put off the Tottenham management, and their attention has allegedly turned to McGeady. According to Wikipedia he is renowned for his dribbling and trickery and can play on either wing or up front.

Looking at each player’s respective profiles they seem very different players. Brown is said to be a powerful central midfielder in the style of Roy Keane, whilst McGeady is more of a flair player. Either would be a useful addition to the squad – but whether they are good enough to displace any of our first team is doubtful.

With our midfield quartet of Palacios, Lennon, Modric and Huddlestone/Jenas playing so well together, plus dos Santos, O’ Hara, and Bentley as back-up do we need more? Maybe the rumours linking Jenas and Bentley with moves to Villa are in the pipeline after all?
